Of this amount, over 198 million lei represents compensatory financing for performance, depending on the indicators achieved - means granted to support the excellence of universities. For this reason, in 2026, the largest budgetary allocations for compensatory financing will be directed to Nicolae Testemitanu University - in the amount of 43,538.78 lei.
In addition to the performance-based compensatory funding, universities will receive money based on two other components: standard funding and complementary funding. The standard funding, worth over 827 million lei, is oriented towards the educational process itself, with an allowance per student of 19.9 thousand lei, calculated according to adjustment coefficients (study cycle, form of education, language of training and study program). At the same time, the complementary funding, with a budget of over 77 million lei, is directed towards improving the quality students’ life, namely: renovating hostels, modernizing the material and didactic base, providing them with computers/software/equipment, as well as supporting cultural and sports activities.
